We have been looking for a juicer for our family since my daughter was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in December of 2012. I have had many friends tell me about the pros of juicing with our daughter and her health being the way it is. Out of everyone who has told us about juicing almost all of them have told us about the Vitamix.

While at Costco this past week the Vitamix road show was in town and we stood for about 45 minutes of her demonstration. We talked to her afterwards as we were seriously considering investing in this machine. As you can tell below we now own a Vitamix and it has only been a few days but we are loving it from ice cream to smoothies …. I can not wait to make a soup in my vitamix later this week.

One of the things we were told when we purchased the Vitamix was to stick to the recipes in the book that comes with it. Well if you know me I don’t like to go by the rules… so I just had to venture out on my own and find and create new recipes already. Besides the recipe book didn’t come with a recipe for Vanilla Ice Cream and I LOVE anything Vanilla.

Vanilla Ice Cream
1 cup Half & Half (you can substitute Almond, Rice or Coconut Milk)
1/2 cup non instant powdered milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
4 cups Ice cubes

I used a Vitamix to make my ice cream so I just put it on snow and pressed start. I did have to use the plunger a few times to get the ice down into the blades.

I realize it looks soft but we had a spill of someone dropping their bowl of ice cream on the floor that had to be cleaned up before I could take the picture.

  4. I've heard a lot about Vitamix machines. They sound like a great investment. The ice cream you made looks wonderful!

  5. Do u have to use powdered milk? I think the recipe book with the vitamix says optional...
