5 WAYS I SAVED IN MAY

I am really loving this mindful spending journey I am on. Every purchase is well thought out and considered before it is done. Even the simple things like replacing items that are worn out. I always want to be mindful of where my money is going. This month I did make some purchases for items that no longer had any life in them but still saved in the long run.

RUNNING SHOE PURCHASE

I know this is about saving money but I needed new runners. I had no support left in my three year old runners. When I walked any distance in them my feet just ached. I went to a local sports store that often runs sales and found a discontinued pair or Reebok runners regular $100 on for $39.99. BONUS! When it comes to my feet I like to have quality footwear. It just goes to show you can find quality footwear for an affordable price.

WALKING TO GROCERY STORE

I have been taking to walking to the local stores in my area instead of driving which is doing two things at once - saving me money on gas and getting me in better shape. WIN WIN!

PLANTED A GARDEN

This is the first year that I have tried to plant a garden with anything besides a strawberry patch that I had at my old house. It grew like crazy but this year I ventured into tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, onions and chives. This is really an adventure for me because usually I can not keep anything alive for very long but I am happy to report my garden is growing quite well.

USED MY CLOTHESLINE

I did invest in a clothesline because I didn't have one but, in the end it does pay for itself over a short time. I use it every time we do a load of laundry since I have got it.

NO AIR CONDITIONING

So far this year we have yet to use our air conditioner and trust me there have been days when we actually could have used it but we didn't instead we jumped into the pool to cool off after dinner making us much more comfortable for our sleep that evening.

How did you save this month?
