How to Save Money Shopping for GiftsChristmas is fast approaching and I know everyone likes to save money on the holidays. Our Christmas budget is very tight this year. We are trying to pay off debt so that we can live more comfortably. We will be purchasing small gifts for all of our children, but the most important thing about Christmas is spending time together as a family.
It seems like all the expensive holidays come at once for our household with birthdays and holidays all at once.
Set a Budget
Setting a budget is one of the first things you need to do before you even think of purchasing anything during the Christmas Season. Once your budget is set you can then break things down for your Christmas. The hard part for some people is sticking to the budget only dealing with cash helps me stick to our budget.
Make a List
Ask those on your list for ideas and a list so that you can be sure to purchase them something they can truly use. When you receive a list of ideas then you can watch for sales on the items that they wish.
Christmas Wrapping Paper
Stock up on wrapping paper and gift bags after Christmas for next year this will help you save a ton of money for the coming year. Or better yet see if the stores you are making your purchases from offer free wrapping.
Create gift baskets geared to the person you are buying for. It is great to add your favourite cooking spices or ones you have made up to the cooking basket of the chef you buy for. I also try to do a basket of my children's favourite treats so they can have something special just for them.
Thrift stores, clearance sales and even dollar stores have some very unique items that would make great gift ideas. Do not limit yourself to department stores when purchasing gifts for those you love your options are endless.
When you have to buy a gift for a lot of people in one family why not think of a family gift you can get them instead like a movie or a game they can all play together. As a family we love to come together to play games it makes spending time together a lot of fun.
