I have been so blessed in my life to have amazing role models when I was growing up. They inspired me to do be anything I wanted to be without giving into the stereotypes that were out there in the world.

My parents supported all my decisions even the ones they didn't agree with because they knew I had to learn for myself to help me grow into the independent woman I am today. I have always felt I could play any sports and go into any career I have ever wanted and that their support would not faulter.

Having raised two very independent young woman now myself and continuing to raise a young teen girl I know the importance of having strong role models in their life who foster the confidence and strength I like to see in my daughters.

Monitoring what my daughter watches on television helps to reinforce the message we give to our daughter. I have found over the years there are many shows that help us with this.

Some of our favourites on Netflix have been:

The story of Lorelai and Rory continues in this four part event. The orginal series held many life lessons for my older daughter so I could wait to share this with my youngest daughter.

While my daughter was still watching Full House it was released that Fuller House would be coming out and she couldn't wait. DJ is back as a widow with three boys she is raising with the help of her sister Stephanie and best friend Kimmy.

As a homeschooling mom I was more than delighted with the show Project Mc2. We couldn't wait to sit down and enjoy some of the shows together. I liked that the girls are super smart science type students and a step away from the traditional roles they usually have girls play.

One Day at a Time shows the real life struggles of a single mom working full time as a nurse while raising her teen daughter and tween son. Her mother also lives with there and is there to help with the children. I loved the original series and I couldn't wait to watch this one with my daughter.
